NATASJA LIMMEN
External Confidential Advisor
My name is Natasja Limmen, and I am 47 years old. I grew up as the eldest daughter with two younger brothers. Although I was raised in Gelderland, I now reside in the West-Frisian village of Sint Maarten with my husband. We have been married for nearly 25 years and have four adult children together. I work part-time as a trainer at the Listening Line, where I train and guide volunteers in the art of unbiased listening. In addition to my work at the Listening Line, I volunteer as a mentor at Scool's Cool, where I guide a first-year student in establishing a solid foundation for successful academic completion.

I've personally experienced what it's like when a trusted advisor is less accessible, and this experience motivated me to pursue the training. I am now certified by the National Association of Confidential Advisors (LVV) and work independently as an external Confidential Advisor in the Noordkop region.

As a Confidential Advisor, I assist organisations and their employees in creating and maintaining a safe and positive work environment by establishing proper reporting procedures, providing explanations, conducting training, and distributing newsletters on topics such as unwanted behaviour or integrity violations. I am always ready to lend a sympathetic ear during follow-up and offer advice on potential solutions. I believe that my background and acquired knowledge contribute to being an accessible Confidential Advisor.

Given my natural curiosity about what drives people, I have pursued various studies in life coaching, applied psychology, and clinical psychology. I also focus on communication between parties. For this purpose, I completed mediation training, as well as supervision, group work facilitation, and coaching (HBO+).

In my view, everything hinges on how communication and listening take place, how things are said, and how they are received by others. To deepen my understanding in this area, I had the opportunity to participate in a European research project called the MoNaLisa project, which focused on measuring listening skills, conducted by IFOTES. It was a very enlightening and valuable experience. I have also contributed to research projects, including those at institutions like the Trimbos Institute, primarily studying substance use among young people. NIX18 is a notable example.

Communication is THE way to connect and establish contact with one another!
